V/A - Boggler - Stars In Stör E.O.

I first heard this cassette on WNYU (NYC primier underground radio station) back in 1982, they played the WHOLE cassette, and I was blown away...

I needed to get it!!

So I did...

This is supreme NDW at its beat best, noise, experimental, industrial, and some Synthpop is thrown in the mix.

No too much info on the nugget, but I remember the legendary Rocks in your Head was were I got this cassette.

La Planète Sauvage

One of the greatest science fiction animated movies ever is Fantastic Planet the 1973 film directed by René Laloux . The film was an international production between France and Czechoslovakia and has been distributed in the United States by Roger Corman. It won the special jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1973. The story is based on the novel, Oms en Série, by the French writer Stefan Wul.

Fantastic Planet
is just an amazing tryped out experience that still holds up to todays storylines, and freak factor..

If you don't already have this cinematic masterpiece I suggest you get it here on AMAZON.

Here is the Progey atmospheric, future Jazz Soundtrack..

It's really a sweet journey through abstract landscapes of Jazz..

3 obscure Synth BM 12"

Fresh from MY!!! collection we have some EBM-y 12'ers for you..

Starting with:

Executive Slacks

Philadelphia's Executive Slacks started out playing a searing combination of electronics, guitar/vocals and percussion. The impact is gratingly industrial but also emotional — it isn't the sheer assault that makes you uneasy, it's the whole demented concoction... Trouser Press

Executive Slacks - Executive Slacks - 1983 - Netherlands/US

&

Aimless Device

The perfect dicotomy of goth minimal synth, and Coldwave.. I forgot how I swayed to this gem...

Aimless Device - Hard To Be Nice - 1985 - Belgium

& last...

Kreutzer

Great synthy NDW / EBM that has a touch of funk & bass...

Krisma

Italian New Wave/Synthpop band originally called Chrisma formed in 1976. The name is the contraction from the first names of the keyplayers (Christina Moser, Maurizio Arcieri). By 1980 the name was changed into Krisma and the style shifted to synthpop. The music is a bit pop-y at times. but uniquely intelligent for a Synthpop band. If you enjoy the music of KaS Product.. you will definietly dig the jams of Krisma...

Elegi

Elegi burned with an intense flame for one and half year during 1980 and 1981. A wide range of different musical and cultural influences was mixed and energized by the vibrating new wave atmosphere in Stockholm of those days and by the chemistry within the band.

Elegi played a number of gigs in Stockholm as well in other a parts of Sweden. A first tour, together with Swedish new wave collegues Hjärnstorm, went to southern part of Sweden and to Copenhagen. A second tour, together with the English band the Passions, went to various Swedish cities as well as to Oslo in Norway.

Great atmospheric Swede Welle, dark saxy, and jittery at times, but soo good!

Here is the second LP of this awesome Swedish Wave collective.

A bit more mature, and polished on this 1981 release, but still a hell of a great band and album..

Great manic synth sound, with early traces of EBM, and industrial beats..

Crash Course in Science

If DEVO had an evil step-sibling...

Crash Course in Science (CCIS) is an electronic musical group that was formed in 1979. Choosing toy instruments and live drums out of necessity, CCIS began to experiment with a series of analog recording devices. The instruments gave way to crude drum machines and ‘Frankenstein’ type homemade instruments. CCIS was ready to record the Signals From Pier Thirteen. Signals From Pier Thirteen was released in the U.S. and England in 1981. This 12” EP contained the songs ‘Cardboard Lamb’ and ‘Flying Turns’ which are two of the bands most recognizable tracks. This record has been regarded as influential to the techno industrial genres and was an early inception of what is now known as the ‘electro’ sound. This record is still highly sought-after by collectors and fans today.. Last FM

Here are the first two releases of pure sweet driving synth. This music was way ahead of its time, almost bordering on early techno.. I first caught this trio on "The Uncle Floyd Show" circa 1981.. I've been a huge fan since..

You will be too..

Familie Hesselbach

I came across this bootleg not really knowing it existed, it is an ULTRA RARE pressing of 200!!!
I've only heard about Familie Hesselbach (named after a very famous German family TV sitcom) through the amazing NDW cassette comp "Boggler - Stars In Stør E.O" Which I will be posting soon...

The sound is extreme No wave jittery Neue Deutche Welle, it is just some really good intelligent 80's New music...

3x7" + a 12"

Have I gone too far?... Naaaaaa!

Today we have 3 x 7" synthy nuggets and a horrifically kitchy 12"

Starting with:

Mats Olofsson - Rekordmagasinet 7" - 1981 - Sweden

The musical style is referred to as "Bunkerpop" on the sleeve. Its like 50's inspired synth pop. From sweden. Mats started out as drummer for then punk band Docent Död, but left after their second single to pursue a solo career...

Also from Swedwen we have:

Ratata - Ögon Av Is 7" - 1982 - Sweden

Ratata was a Swedish synth pop ground formed by Mauro Scocco, Heinz Liljedahl, Anders Skog and Johan Kling in 1980. Great Pop synth sound, robotic sound at its best..

And:

Zoo - Skylines / On & On 7" - 1982 - USA

From Hayward, CA, USA, this was a trio that played pure Coldwave. There is no more info on this awesome American trio

Last...there is...

Xalan - I Only Move For Money 12" - 1984 - Germany

Were do we begin? Pure Italo synth sleeze junk! The cover.. THE LYRICS????!!!
You'll get a kick out of this one!
It may even be your motto...

We've Got a Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It

A fuzzbox (or fuzz box) is a type of effects pedal comprising an amplifier and a clipping circuit, which generates a distorted version of the input signal...

When these four dizzy school girls got together and decided to do something with their lives in Birmingham rather than be destined to grace the checkouts in their local Tesco’s. Sisters Jo and Maggie Dunne (four years older) were eagerly learning to play lead guitar and bass respectively whilst Vickie Perks only had eyes for being a front lady with microphone in hand and petite, blonde Tina O’Neill, already had drumsticks in her tiny grip ready for her first lesson. Not really coming up with any great ideas for a band name, one of them came up with the idea of playing around with one of the instruments they were now rehearsing with. A ‘Fuzzbox,’ to describe it in his entirety, is a guitar pedal used to create a distorted sound. It was first used by Jimi Hendrix and was an essential item to create a surround sound of blurred or ’fuzzy’ noises in rock music predominately. It also was and still is, a certain piece of equipment used by many punk groups around at the time to give the very essence to a punk rock sound. Thus ‘We’ve Got A Fuzzbox And We’re Gonna Use It’ was born

These gals are geniuses with their amazing girl group fuzz sound gone array, and their look... what a look it is..

If you already have not heard of them now is your chance, they DO NOT disappoint!

Presage
1. An indication or warning of a future occurrence; an omen.
2. A feeling or intuition of what is going to occur; a presentiment.
3. Prophetic significance or meaning.

Presage(s) - First compilation on the Ethereal 4AD label in 1980.
7 bizarre un-Ethereal early 4AD tracks that never were released. Strange experiments in Dark Synth pop, Psychobilly, New Wave, and noise..
